Baby Carrier Review: Emmeline Textiles Partita Cantaloupe

[Image of a smiling tan skin bespectacled Asian woman wearing a toddler on her back in a woven wrap with an undyed combed cotton warp and a mercerized orange weft in a modified herringbone pattern. Mama's looking down at the middle marker tag that happens to be in the center of her freshwater double hammock this time. Mama has violin and bow in hand. Toddler is out of focus and an eye is peeking over Mama's shoulder. Dimpled toddler hands are playing with the wispy dark brown hairs on Mama's neck that don't make it up in the messy bun.]

The color orange in woven wrap carriers doesn't come by very often. I love the color orange. I mean I know my default is purple everything but I really do love the other colors as well. Orange makes me feel happy. In addition to this wrap being a lovely shade of orange, the name drew me in. Partita Cantaloupe. Okay, this #BabywearingDietitian who also happens to be a musician just had to have it #ForTheLoveOfBachAndBabywearing

They're in front of a beige wall. Mama has a glass in hand of coconut water with half a lime and ice but it kinda looks like white wine.]
Cheers!

Partita Cantaloupe came to our home in the winter time. When everything here is white, brown, and gray for what feels like forever. The burst of orange livened our spirits with snuggles and sunshine. Lots of wrap naps. Lots of giggles. It has become a dear friend here. The toddler has claimed it as her own wrap and won't let Big Sis be worn in it.

Mama is smiling at the smiling toddler giving her a hug. Toddler has on a tie-dye shirt from last summer and dark teal sparkly polka-dotted fleece-lined leggings. Mama has on a gray t-shirt patterned with purple pink apple slices. In the background is a black music stand against an off-white wall.]

Double Hammock with Loop Candy Cane Chest Belt

That slightly looser weave of Partita Cantaloupe gives a bit of stretch and recoil that makes the wrap jobs so moldable. The moldability in a double hammock chest pass is superb. That L-pull snugs everything right up and it's like the little fibers know just where to go. The microtexture all over provides an easy to use grip to glide ratio (Partita Rainbow Road is currently visiting here and that feels really smooth compared to Partita Cantaloupe). A half knot holds like a champ and once a slip knot (aka lark's head knot) is snugged up, it isn't going anywhere.

[Image of a tan skin bespectacled Asian woman wearing a barefoot toddler on her back in a woven wrap with an undyed combed cotton warp and a mercerized orange weft in a modified herringbone pattern. She has tied in wrap in a Taiwanese Back Carry over a gray sweater. Her teal t-shirt peeks out underneath the sweater’s hem for a delightful pop of color with the orange wrap. Her hands gently hug the bare feet handing on her sides.]

At 340 gsm, it feels medium-weight in hand, breathable, airy and cushy. As a base plus 1 length here we have had the option of trying a variety of carries and we have yet to find something uncomfortable. Though we haven't tried it in a shorty or mid-length, having used it in single layer carries, I imagine any length would go well for Partita Cantaloupe.

We've loved it with ring finishes (it just goes perfectly with Sling Ring's orange aluminum ring) as well.

Mama has cheek resting on toddler's forehead. Mama has on a gray and blue striped linen dress. Toddler has on black and white striped leggings and a Mama-made lime green ruffle top patterned with clothespin dolls. Mama has a teal play dough bracelet on made by Big Sis. In hand is a blue glazed ceramic cup with a brown stamp of a girl's profile in a gilded frame that will be refilled with coffee and tea throughout the day. Her other hand rests on toddler's bum.]

Summary: Wrap It Up

Below is a summary of things that might make you go for Partita Cantaloupe, or not. Keep in mind that the list is subjective and you may love the wrap even if you check off more than half the things for the "not for me" list below.

This may not be love at first wrap if you're looking for:
  • lots of glide/soapy
  • denser weave
  • less texture
  • macrotexture
  • hefty weight
  • wider width
This might be your cup of tea if you're looking for:
  • dry feel
  • slightly looser weave
  • moldable
  • microtexture
  • something orange
  • cush and smoosh without feeling heavy

The carry is one shouldered and shows off both sides of the wrap. It's double knotted at the waist in the back. They're in front of a beige wall.
