Knit Project # 12: Mama's Aurora Beanie

This beautiful warm-colored yarn creates gradations of colors that remind me of gorgeous colors streaking the sky. Practiced a seed stitch with this hat and loved seeing the stripes come to life!

  • Lion Brand Amazing yarn 53% wool, 47% acrylic, medium (4) weight; machine wash cool, lay flat to dry
  • size 9 (5.5mm) 16" circular knitting needles
  • cast on 68
  • ribbing of 2k2p for 2"
  • "17k, m1" repeat through round (72 stitches)
  • seed stitch pattern for 1"
  • stockinette pattern for 2"
  • seed stitch pattern for 1"
  • decreasing:
    • "k16, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k15, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k14, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k13, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k12, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k11, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k10, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k9, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k8, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k7, k2tog" repeat through round
    • "k6, k2tog" repeat through round
    • cut off yarn with a long tail to weave through hole and pull shut, weave in ends.
