Friendly Fair Isle Hat in Teal and Cream (knit)

I LOVE THIS PATTERN (rushes off to find more yarn to knit as fast as possible to make more because they're so pretty and cute and pretty and cute and oh did you see that delicious pom pom???)

Purl Soho's "Friendly Fair Isle Hat" pattern is written clearly and for different sizes, I'm a big fan. I used different yarn and needles than the instructions but not by much.

My minor deviations were the following:
  • Yarn used: Red Heart Soft Essentials in Teal and Cream
  • US 10 (6 mm) 16" circular knitting needles for ribbing
  • US 11 (8 mm) 16" circular knitting needles for rest of hat (didn't need double pointed needles)

Love the detail above the ribbing!

Check out the detail in the shaping of the crown!

For the kid size (cast on of 56), I ended up with a circumference of 17 inches and a height (not including the pom pom) of 8.5 inches. It fits slouchy on a child and fits comfortably with a good depth (not slouchy) on an adult. I think I will try the same yarns, same pattern for "kid size" using US 9 (5.5 mm) and US 10.5 (6.5 mm) for the next one and compare finished measurements. Stay tuned!
