Friendly Fair Isle Hat: Snowy Forest (knit)

Flat lay of a green and brown knitted hat with cream fair isle pattern accents and a cream pom pom lying on a wood surface with dried autumnal leaves.

This time I went for a woodsy vibe and used three yarns simultaneously! The brown and green were slightly thinner than the cream so I used those together and used the cream as the accent yarn. I followed Purl Soho's "Friendly Fair Isle Hat" pattern in the "kid" size cast on of 56 stitches.

My deviations were the following:
  • Yarns used: Red Heart Soft Essentials in Cream (bulky weight), Red Heart Soft in Chocolate and Dark Leaf (medium weight)
  • US 9 (5.5 mm) 16" circular knitting needles for ribbing
  • US 10.5 (6.5 mm) 16" circular knitting needles for rest of hat
  • US 10.5 (6.5 mm) double pointed needles (used starting at crown shaping because pattern split off evenly onto four needles and I didn't need place markers)

Finished Measurements
Circumference: 16 inches
Height: 8.5 inches (not including pom pom)
Sized to fit an older toddler (approximately 2-4 years)

Focused on the cream pom pom of a green and brown knitted hat with cream fair isle pattern accents standing upright on its brim on a wood surface.

I think this "Snowy Forest" hat will go well with the "SPARKLY ACORN HAT - NEWBORN (KNIT)" I made previously. Perfect for a sibling pair!
