Lakeside Beanie (knit)
Okay, no pom pom. Who even am I?!?! Pom pom is optional. There, I said it. Okay okay, it's always optional. Some times it's nice to not have a giant ball of fluff on the top in case the winter jacket has a hood you'd like to be able to fit over the hat.
This beanie is similar to the "Misty Dawn Beanies (knit)" but different in ribbing and lack of pom pom and is slightly more stretchy, slightly less dense (the yarn is slightly less bulky). There's 20% wool in this yarn (opposed to Misty Dawn Beanies), it isn't self-striping but has that lovely mottled look that reminds me of the lake.
Materials
- US 11 (8 mm) 16" circular knitting needles
- US 13 (9 mm) 16" circular knitting needles
- stitch marker
- yarn needle
- Less than 1 ball of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in River Run
Notes
- Fits an older toddler and younger child - great one to make for children of two ages if you don't want to mess with sizing (and then the younger child can keep growing into their hat and the older one's head doesn't grow as fast anymore so you might get a couple years of wear out of it!). Or if you have a hat bin and don't want to mess with searching for whose hat is whose, they're the same... (though the children may say otherwise).
